turbine tree

New Wind a French company is installing tree-shaped wind turbines (turbine tree) at the Place de la Concorde in Paris, France. The company’s founder, Jérôme Michaud-Larivière came up with the idea while in a Paris square, when he “saw the leaves tremble when there was not a breath of air.” He hopes the trees can be used to exploit small air currents flowing along with buildings and streets, and could eventually be installed in people’s yards and urban centres.

what is this turbine tree and how it works?

Turbine trees are basically a bunch of small turbines which is fixed with a stand in the form of trees, as can be seen from the figure. The small wind turbines as a leaf of a tree are placed along the steel branches that are fixed to a magnetic assembly that go into rotation hence generating the electricity. Due to higher no. of turbines helps in capturing, even the smallest of wind movement and converting into electrical pulses hence generating a continuity.

The inventor of this project had admitted that the efficiency of these trees is low compared to more consistent conventional wind turbines, but believes the £23,500 trees are more viable and less intrusive than ‘monstrous’ conventional wind turbines. This 26-foot high wind turbine trees, which use tiny blades inside the ‘leaves’, could potentially be profitable after a year of wind speeds averaging 7.8 mph. They can generate electricity at wind speeds as low as 4.5 mph. let’s see how far he goes on his this challenge as he had invested several years in developing this turbine tree.

we can hope that this form of renewable energy gets some popularity. moreover, if any further update comes we will update it here. meanwhile, you should subscribe to our newsletter and read our other such stories on renewable energy. Spherical solar power generator
